Digi-Star™ is a brand new, exclusive to Trailer Vision™ and probably a UK first, vehicle based Digital Wireless (DW) system, featuring the very latest technology. The system includes everything that you will need to operate a wireless camera system in a horsebox, lorry, or car & trailer. The system being DW, means that it can be used at the same time as Bluetooth devices, or wireless networks, interference free.

Digi-Star™ is a standard 12V 'DIN' sized unit and is designed to replace the vehicle stereo and it can be used with up to 4 cameras, including reverse. The motorised 7" monitor can display the images from a single camera, or multi-cameras in quad view*. The unit also includes: RDS Stereo (single tuner), 7" touch screen Sat-Nav with Western EU Map (Nav N Go iGO 8), CD/DVD player, MP3/ipod connections and Bluetooth Handsfree for use with a mobile phone (Bluetooth Version 2). A 24V-12V adapter ('dropper') is available as an optional extra, to enable the head unit to be powered from 24V (some lorries are 24V only); the camera(s) can operate from either 12V or 24V as standard.

Why digital? Because the signal transmission is both pre and post processed, the digital wireless receiver is able to filter out all external interference. External interference can occur from many sources: other camera systems, Bluetooth devices, wireless internet networks, or anything else using the 2.4GHz frequency range. This is not usually a significant problem for analogue systems (TV101, TVSN) unless the interference source is powerful, or very close to the monitor/receiver. However, DW systems eliminate all interference giving a stable and clear picture all the time. Additionally, the picture transmission can only be viewed by a paired DW system making it more secure.

Typical Installation

Camera

The camera is usually mounted high in the box/trailer behind the horse, or it can mounted wherever is convenient. The bracket is adjustable for roof or wall use and is attached by bolts/self tapping screws (bolts/screws included)#. The aerial is connected directly to the rear of the camera. The camera is connected to the vehicle electrics (12V or 24V) by the red (live) wire and black (neutral) wire. The internal lighting circuit (supply side) is often a convenient power source. That's it; the camera automatically adjusts for light levels and communicates with the monitor wirelessly.

The reversing camera (optional extra) is wired in the same way; connect to the reversing light for automatic camera selection (single camera system, when reverse gear engaged).

Screen

The DIN sized unit fits/replaces the vehicles current 'stereo' and comes with standard 'ISO' connections. The unit can be supplied with a 24-12V 'dropper' to enable it to be powered from 24V. When viewing images from up to 4 DW cameras the picture can be adjusted for brightness, image quality (VQA/QVGA) and camera source, when used with multiple cameras (quad view*, or manual camera selection).

* Quad View, is the monitor showing 4 seperate camera images at the sime time, ie the screen is divided into 4 parts, if for example only 2 cameras are operating then 2 of the 4 parts would be blank.
